For those who don’t dive, there is no need to miss out on the spectacular marine life of the Maldives. Using the complimentary rental mask, snorkel and fins, there is plenty to see snorkelling on the extensive house reef, rich in marine life, or on one of two feature snorkel excursions.
Take to the lagoon, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding or hoist a sail, and head out to explore on a catamaran. At the end of the day what better way than either watching the sunset with drinks & dolphins around the boat on the dolphin cruise or head out for some sunset fishing, with the catch prepared for you the next day, both activities ideal for couples or the whole family. There will be plenty of time for relaxation, so make the most of the exhilaration the marine sports team offers on a daily basis.
WHALE SHARK EXPERIENCE
During November to April there is a unique opportunity to snorkel with whale sharks at night, an experience unique to COMO Maalifushi. Working with local fishing boats, who attract the whale shark while collecting bait fish, you are able to observe & snorkel with the gentle giants as they feed on plankton under the lights. Strict protocol to ensure safety and enjoyment of snorkeler and shark are followed, and those that were nervous at the start, return exhilarated.
The resident marine biologist is working with leading world experts in the monitoring the whale sharks of Thaa atoll, adding id’s into an international data base, as well as key aspects of their behaviour.
